My book is The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins and was published in 2008. It is a fiction book about an event that happens when a bunch of people play survival of the fittest and try to kill each other. Basically there are districts and 2 people, one boy and one girl, get chosen from each districts. Whoever is last alive when all else are dead, win the hunger games. The overall theme of the book is survival of the fittest.
The story is told from first person point of view, from the view of the main character Katniss. Katniss' sister Prim gets chosen to be in the hunger games, but Katniss volunteered so her little sister wouldn't have to do it. In the end, Katniss wins the hunger games with another guy names Peeta. The intended audience is young adults because people get killed so it isn't good for little kids. The genre is adventure and it fits because throughout the entire book, she is chasing someone or being chased, which makes it an adventure. The author kept me interested by keeping me wanting to read more with cliffhangers and other things.
The book affected me because I usually don't read adventure books, but a friend told me to read it, and I am glad I did. I though it was overrated because everybody read it, and usually books like that are not that good. When I read it it changed my view of the book, because I actually enjoyed it. It brought up a couple memories of when I read the book The Hobbit, because I really liked that book too, It also was an adventure book and kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time.
I think this was a good book because it was very suspenseful throughout the entire book. I recommend it to anybody who wants a good book to read.
