This story is told in 1st person view by Nick Abbott. This story is about a person named Nick Abbott and his parents are divorced. But, while he is in high school there is a kid named Trent Dawson who is a big bully and a troublemaker. When Trent's dad makes a basketball court for Nick's family because Nick's dad paid him and that was how he got divorced with Nick's mom. Nick's dad wanted to play basketball with Trent so they came to Nick's backyard and played on their court. But as days went by he met a kid named Luke and Nick played with him every night. Then basketball tryouts came and Trent was there playing fair and aggressively. When the team players went up for the varsity team, Nick and Luke was on it and also Trent was on it too. So Nick was surprised and hated it. But then as days went by and Trent was passing his classes, they were playing basketball and their coach, Coach O'Leary saw how good Trent and Nick was, they put them on starter positions. They won all their games and beat a team that beat them for more than 20 years. Then there was a news where Trent's brother, Zack had shot a person and was trying to find him to arrest him. So Trent was gonna go find him and leave with him to a new place where they didn't know who they were, but Nick was begging to let Trent stay because they were finally friends but Trent told Nick that his brother has helped him in everything so Nick told him to stay until the last game. Later Nick begged again and Trent still didn't and Nick got mad and told him to leave. There last game came up and they were losing until people started chanting Dawson Dawson in the 4th quarter and there he was, Trent Dawson was at the game and they won their game and then Trent talked to Nick after the game like real friends. The intended audience is middle school and high school students. I think the genre was realistic non-fiction and the book got me interested in this book because I wanted to know what would happen to Trent and Nick's relationship together.
This book affected me because after I read the book I thought that helping people change into a nicer person was possible. Trent was a troublemaker that got caught by the police and was hated by everyone but as Nick helped him become a nicer person, everyone liked Trent. I think that some people aren't helping people our or helping them become a better person in my view of the world. I really didn't have a book that was related to this.
I think that the book was awesome because the book had some intense parts and so much stuff changed like Trent becoming a better person instead of a bully that did bad stuff with his 18 year old brother. I would recommend this book to basketball players and to people that has bully's or troublemakers at there school.
