Ender's Game by: Orson Scott Card

Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card is an exciting book. First copyrighted in 1977, it has won the Hugo Award and Nebula Award and has been made in to a motion picture. Ender's Game is action packed Sci-Fi book taking place in the future. The world at this point has faced two bugger(basically aliens) attacks and is looking for kids to lead their future armies for the next attack. At the beginning Ender Wiggin is a small boy isolated by other students because he is the "third child" which was very unusual in the world at that time, since he is still monitored by the government at the age of 6(which is also unusual) he gets constantly bullied. After a while they take his monitor off but soon take him in for the army. He begins his training in space, also isolating him from the other students so he can get his technique, strategy, and body more quickly suited for battle than the others. Facing many hardships and challenges Ender goes through the world without friends, friendly faces, or anybody actually trust worthy. Still he manages to get through the tough life fate had decided for him.

The point of view of the book is second person. At the beginning of each chapter, the author puts the conversation of two leaders or generals talking about mostly Ender. After about a page he goes back to Ender. The book seems to be intended for adults or young adults, maybe college or high school students, as there are many very violent scenes in the book. As I said before the book seems to be Science-Fiction as it takes place in the future with aliens, lasers, spaceships, and your usual Science- Fiction book. The book is action packed and usually keeps you from putting the book down. Ender goes through many hardships as he doesn't have any actual friends. Once Ender actually starts making friends he is pulled away from either the mentors/teachers or other reasons. There's always something going on that keeps you reading. The book is really good at maintaining your attention and I think it is suited for the audience.

The book was really good to me, a little violent, but it was really good. I really enjoy action books and books that take place in the future. The book made me think more about living in the moment, or being happy with what you have and making use of what you have instead of wasting it. The book reminds me of a more electrical and spacey hunger games. Nobody actually died so I didn't have to cry over the loss of a character. The book did not affect me as much as it would other people I guess. The government, schools, and anyone bigger than Ender were really mean and constantly picked on him, which I don't have much of a problem as there are those types of people in the world, but there were times when they just seemed downright cruel. This I think would anger most people reading the book, which it did for me.

Overall I think this book was well written and never left you confused. It was easy to follow and a really fun read maybe for the summer. I would recommend this book to Hunger Game fans and anyone who really likes Science- Fiction or in the future reads.
