The Help

 

 

The book, The Help, by Kathryn Stockett was first published in 2009. It is a Historical fiction. The plot of this book is practically just the life of Aibileen, Minny, and Skeeter. It is very interesting because the author makes sure to use a "country" kind of spelling to make it sound more southern. The overall theme is if you give someone the right motivation they can rule the world.

 

This book is told in 1st person, which person it is, that's the question, it is told by all three of the main characters, just its all at different times. At one point Aibileen will be telling the story for a few chapters and then a chapter later, it would be Skeeter. This book is perfect for people in general  because it is very well rounded.

 

It has some powerful words, this book. It made me laugh, it made me mad, it made my emotions go every which way. For the most part, I was mad that the white people were so rude to the maids. This story is unlike anything I have ever read before.

 

This was honestly the best book I have ever read. It was very entertaining. I recommend this to everyone. I really do mean everyone. Read to your baby sibling, read it to your dog. I don't think they will understand a single word you say, but give it a shot. It is just that good!
