Intentional Walk is a non fiction book written by Rob Rains and was written in 2013. It is about the St. Louis Cardinal baseball team and how the Christian faith runs the team. The book is about when many different players on the Cardinals decided to become Christians. It has their testimonies and why they chose to become Christian. The overall theme of the book is that many players on the St. Louis Cardinals are Christians.
The point of view of the author is third person, but it has interviews and quotes from players and even the coach of the Cardinals. The interviews have the testimonies of each player and coach. The intended audience is any Cardinal fan or even any baseball fan. It is a non fiction book and it fits in because it is a real life book. It is not made up. The author kept me interested because I am a Christian and I am a huge Cardinal fan and so I can relate to what the book is about. The author's style is that he keeps it third person, but adds in interviews.
The book affected me because I had no idea that all of my favorite players were Christians and it is amazing to hear their stories and find out why they became christians. I changed a few of my ideas because now that I know they are Christians, I look at all these athletes in a much better way. I think this is awesome because I already liked all these players and now I like them even more because now I know their story and how they are Christians. It didn't bring up any memories of books I have read because I have never read a book about the St. Louis Cardinals before.
I think the quality of the book is very good because he didn't just choose what he knew about the players' stories, he actually interviewed them to find out about exactly what happened. I think the book would have been good if he had given his interpretation of their stories, but when he actually interviewed them, he took it to a whole new level. I recommend this book to anyone that is a Cardinal fan or just wants to find out about the faith behind the Cardinal ball club because it is a fascinating book.
